In 2005, he made a change and took a position as an Assistant Public Defender, where he aggressively represented clients in Monroe County Court. Dennis became the State Attorney of Monroe County in 2009, where for the next four years he was dedicated to prosecuting and investigating crimes committed in the Florida Keys. He quickly distinguished himself as an aggressive prosecutor by presenting cases of Ethics and Sunshine Law violations to the Grand Jury. Additionally, he prosecuted crimes against children, the fishing industry and the construction industry. As a resident of Islamorada, he was elected in 2014 to serve in the Islamorada, Village of Islands council. Dennis remains very active within the communities in Miami and the Florida Keys. For the past 17 years he has been, and continues to be, the organizer of the annual Wounded Warrior Soldier Ride for veterans of the Iraq and Iran wars that begins in Miami Beach and ends in Key West.
